Caviar Gift Guide 2026: How to Choose a Memorable Caviar Gift

◆ Updated ◆ By LeDiamont — Zervan GmbH

Caviar can make a distinctive gift for a celebration, a dinner host, a client or someone who appreciates fine food. The right choice depends less on buying the largest tin and more on matching the variety and quantity to the recipient, the number of people who will taste it and the occasion. The LeDiamont range includes Iranian Baeri, Sevruga, Ossetra and Beluga AA® caviar. Check the relevant product page and contact us to confirm current ordering availability before planning your gift.

Quick guide

  • ◆For a first tasting: consider Baeri or Ossetra in a small format.
  • ◆For a more intense profile: Sevruga is a strong option.
  • ◆For a prestigious classic: Beluga AA® is the reference choice in the range.
  • ◆For a shared tasting: choose a Sevruga format suited to the number of guests.
  • ◆Choose quantity according to the number of people and the menu rather than price alone.

Why give caviar?

Caviar is both a food and an experience. It can be served during an aperitif, a dinner or a private tasting. It is particularly suited to people who enjoy gastronomy. It is not appropriate for people who avoid fish or have a fish allergy. Check the recipient’s dietary requirements and the product’s allergen information before choosing a gift. [4] For business gifts, check the recipient company’s policy and any applicable gift-value limits.

Choosing by recipient

Four types of caviar on mother-of-pearl spoons, choosing a caviar gift

First-time guest

A practical introduction to genuine sturgeon caviar.

Pronounced flavours

Smaller pearls and a more assertive marine profile.

Connoisseur or milestone

Large pearls and a delicate texture, from Huso huso sturgeon, as described on the product page.

Shared tasting

Choose the format according to the number of guests and current availability.

Couple, dinner or reception
Sized to the guests

Plan 30 g per person for a tasting and choose tins that cover the total.

How much caviar?

For a tasting, plan 30 g of caviar per person. For a generous aperitif centred on caviar, allow about 50 g per person; if caviar forms the main part of the meal, about 125 g per person. Multiply by the number of people, then choose the tins that cover the total. These are LeDiamont planning guidelines; adjust to the menu. For a two-person tasting, 2 × 30 g = 60 g in total, which can be covered by two 30 g tins. For blini, allow about 3–5 g per bite; a 50 g tin provides approximately 10–16 complete bites. See our guide to how much caviar per person.

What to include

Caviar with a mother-of-pearl spoon, blini and crème fraîche, what to include with a caviar gift

  • ◆A mother-of-pearl, glass or porcelain spoon; horn or wood can also be used. Good food-grade stainless steel is acceptable; avoid silver.
  • ◆A serving card with the product’s storage temperature, use-by date and after-opening instructions, plus our guide to serving caviar.
  • ◆Blini, brioche or crème fraîche, chosen close to serving time. Keep crème fraîche, prepared potatoes and chopped eggs covered and refrigerated until serving. [3]
  • ◆Champagne or chilled vodka are optional pairings described by Great British Chefs. [5] Taste the caviar plain first, then compare a small sip. The LeDiamont Champagne collection is available for browsing; these products are currently unavailable.
  • ◆Iranian saffron can complement a gourmet gift; keep its threads sealed, dark and dry. It does not require refrigerated transport.

Storage and serving instructions for the recipient

Keep the caviar refrigerated at −3 to +3 °C and follow any narrower range on its label. Take each tin out about 10 minutes before serving it on a bed of ice. Keep the tin on ice throughout service, replenish the ice, and prevent direct contact between the grains and the ice. For a longer tasting, bring out small quantities and keep reserve tins refrigerated.

For quality, limit time off ice to about 30 minutes; never leave caviar unrefrigerated for more than 2 hours in total. Reseal and refrigerate leftovers promptly. An opened tin is best within 48 hours, and follow any shorter period on the label. An unopened tin may keep for up to about 3 months, depending on its label’s use-by date and storage instructions. These times assume the cold chain has been maintained. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions after opening. [2]
